Fire Preparedness

Water is a critical resource in firefighting. Yet in many of our rural areas, there are no high-pressure water mains and fire hydrants to provide water. Instead, equipment and personnel are needed to move water from local water sources to the fire. Having a ready supply of water can help firefighters do their job in a safe and effective manner.

Watering your home and defensible space can also be an effective safety measure. Defensible space is the buffer you create between the buildings on your property and the vegetation surrounding them. This space helps slow or stop the spread of wildfire, helps protect your home, and helps the firefighters defending your home.
